Take a moment to stop and gaze into the depths of the water from the wooden bridge. The shapes of the stones, formed by the flow of the river over hundreds of years, are truly remarkable. The waters of the mighty Meienreuss river flow through the valley. This is the perfect place to recharge.

From Wassen, you can follow the path of contemplation to the glacier mills. The route leads you along the old Susten road towards Schanz. The ascent is short and steep – but it’s worth every step. Take a seat on one of the benches and drink in the view over Wassen and the upper Reuss Valley. If you fancy a bit more hiking, you can follow the path of contemplation all the way to the mystical grotto – where the pale light filtering through the trees adds to the atmospheric feel. In summer, the trees in the heart of the forest cast a cool, pleasant shade, and in autumn they delight hikers with their bright autumnal colours. Just a few minutes’ hike away is the wooden bridge, where you can stand and admire the stunning glacier mills.
